Eka hears my door close and starts the water pot.
Sky changes from ink to plum to rose,
illuminating towering clouds.
Frangipani’s languid fall to earth,
Roosters announce the Dawn.
Marigolds, refreshed by Pa Eka, brighten the jungle yoga shala.
Eka’s wife brings palm leaf bowls filled with flowers, lights incense, prays at each altar
and places them,
one by one,
around us.
